Business Development Manager (home office based, midwest)

Summary:

SGS is currently seeking aFood Testing Business Development Manager to join our Elite Sales Team.?? The BDM position is responsible forprofitable revenue growth across all segments of the SGS Food business line toinclude Microbiology, Chemistry, R&D, and Technical Services within the Midwestregion. Client interactions will be anchored in the spirit of establishingstrategic long term, mutually beneficial business partnerships and will utilizeconsultative selling skills. This position is home office based and willrequire travel, including overnight when needed.? The qualified candidate is an aggressivehunter, creative, flexible, and committed to success. This positionreports directly to the Vice President of Business Development.?


Primary Responsibilities:

?????????Create andimplement strategic prospecting and territory action plans for review andapproval by VP Business Development.

?????????Establishstrong relationships in given territory at various levels with key business andtechnical contacts.

?????????Activelyparticipate, orchestrate, and initiate projects and meetings as required toachieve sales goals and brand objectives.

?????????Meet therequired monthly prospect calls and sales visits.

?????????Meet and exceedquarterly and annual revenue goals for territory.

?????????Must be able to review monthlysales reports for trends and respond appropriately in a timelymanner.

????????Responsible for facilitating and owning the Onboarding Processwhen initiating new accounts.

????????Attend food industry trade shows and participate in customer focusedmarketing plans as directed.

????????Manage allaspects of the sales cycle including writing and presenting professionalbusiness proposals and assist with RFP/RFQ responses as directed.

????????Utilizeconsultative sales models to understand prospect needs and align with servicesoffered by SGS.

????????Maintain clientfiles within CRM documenting meetings, phone calls, emails, opportunities, andthe status of the sales cycle and sales opportunities.

????????Maintaininformation on competitors? strengths, weaknesses, policies, pricing, services,etc. to increase likelihood of winning bid situations.

????????Develop andmaintain professional selling skills and personal technical expertise relatingto food safety and quality programs.

????????Must beindependent, autonomous, creative, and competitive to win business whilemaintaining excellent relationships with SGS lab personnel.

????????At all times,adopt a safe behavior by exercising due regard for the health and safety of SGSemployees and clients.

????????Perform otherduties as needed.

?????????Demonstratedability to apply knowledge and experience of the food testing, food safetyand/or food production industries to the business development role.

?????????Knowledge andexperience in laboratory operations is necessary to understand the servicesbeing offered to the client.

?????????Continuallyeducate clients on SGS services.

?????????Leverage thestrengths of the team as needed in the business development process to ensuresound business and science solutions are provided.

?????????Maintain anapproachable, professional, well-spoken and client focused demeanor.

?????????Meet salesgoals as defined in the Job Requirements for the BDM position.


Qualifications:

????????Bachelor?sdegree in Food Science, Microbiology or a related field, or equivalentexperience

????????Working knowledgeof food testinglaboratories through previouswork and/or salesexperience

????????Strong businessskills are needed to proactively address business concerns and identifyopportunities throughout the market, seek out and cultivate high-level relationships,and translate customer priorities into product solution.

????????Ability to workindependently and as a team member

????????Ability andwillingness to travel 3-4 days per week

????????Solid computerskills including MS Outlook, Power Point, Word, Excel, and CRM.

????????Excellent organizational and time management skills to allow forefficient and productive use of time and resources; ability to handle multipleprojects concurrently

????????3-7 years oftechnical sales/business development experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
